The Dragon Lord chapter 5

Chapter 5

Next morning, ligh’tregan woke up to find the prettiest girl he had ever seen was staring down at him. Her auburn locks were tickling his face but he decided he liked it so he didn’t object. “I saw the fight you had yesterday. You’ve got some good moves, but if you want to be the best, you’ve got to learn a bit more.” Said the girl kindly. After he had disengaged himself from her long, auburn hair, smooth skin and hazel eyes, he tried to speak.  “But I could take you on any day!” shouted ligh’tregan.

“Is that a challenge?”

“Why, I think it is!”

“OK, let’s go NOW!” and with that, she dragged him off (with surprising strength, seen as he was 18 stone) to the battle frontier.

When they arrived the girl drew her sword. It was a rider’s sword! It was a miracle of metalworking. It had a green stone in the shape of a rectangle with a bull carved into it set to the blade. She embedded it in the rock floor with a terrible crunch. Everyone turned around. “The rider dares to challenge ME!” she said. The whole crowd gasped.Goldera! Goldera, wake up! Come to the battle frontier, I’m facing an opponent with a rider’s sword! Come quick; aid me with your magic!

I will come!  And so she aided his magic and skills with her magic and enhanced dike’gedie’s magick, or “spending magic”.

“First Blood, don’t go easy though!” said a voice behind ligh’tregan, it was Rogan!

“Rogan!” said ligh’tregan “how did you get here?”

“I’m the shop owner remember? I saw her dragging you down here so I followed her, and, when I saw the judge say first blood, I knew immediately that this battle was just to find a prince!” said Rogan.

“So if I get this right, this is the princess sel’ania! And if I win this, I will become the prince ligh’tregan!”

“That’s right!”

“Cool!”

“I’m proud of you son!” boomed his father from next to Rogan.

“Dad! Didn’t see you there!” said ligh’tregan sheepishly. How is it that things that would normally be the greatest compliment to you suddenly become the worst thing anyone could say as soon as one of your parents say it?

“Start the match!” Boomed the judge, and they fought. With Goldera aiding him, as well as dike’gedie’s extra power, ligh’tregan was just a tiny bit better than sel’ania, and so, after a long, epic fight, in which both came extremely close to losing and Ligh'tregan nearly cut a hole very close to where her breasts were, and received a scorched hand from the force of her blows for that fatal mistake, ligh’tregan managed a short uppercut to her cheek. Blood oozed out of it like slime, the colour of the scarlet sun. Her body obviously didn’t take kindly to being cut, probably because she hadn’t been cut before. But it didn’t matter. Not right now. He had become a prince! (plus, he thought she looked a slight bit more attractive like that, although that could just have been the heat messing with his mind)
